Our Team

AceRocket is a team devoted to transforming the learning process with cutting-edge AI and intelligent automation. Our goal is to build the smartest, most personalized, and most effective learning system for students. With fast, smart diagnostics, we help students quickly pinpoint learning gaps, map their strengths and weaknesses with clarity, and generate personalized roadmaps and training plans tailored to their needs. Our expertise spans education, data, and AI-driven personalization, enabling us to develop tools that give students and parents a transparent, meaningful view of the learning process.

Our Mission

Our mission is to bring transparency, direction, and confidence to every student’s learning journey. We aim to be the ultimate learning guidance for students. We envision a world where learners always have a clear understanding of their mastery, know exactly what to do next, and continue progressing within their own Zone of Proximal Development until they reach their goals. At the same time, parents gain a clearer view of their child’s progress, and learning becomes guided, efficient, and empowering. We see a future where every student moves forward with purpose, and every family feels supported by clear, intelligent guidance.

Our Plan

We plan to build an AI-powered learning navigation system that makes every step of learning visible, actionable, and forward-moving. We begin by helping high school students learn math more effectively and prepare for exams with confidence. Next, we will expand to additional exams and full K–12 support. As our technology grows, we will bring the same intelligent capabilities to broader learning domains. Ultimately, we want every learner to have a clear, intelligent, and personalized plan, and feel genuinely motivated to achieve it.

Meet Our Team

Dong Zhang, Ph.D.

Founder & CEO

Dong has a PhD in astrophysics and a strong background in both academia and technology. In high school, Dong was the top student in both math and physics and won first place in the National High School Physics Competition. Combining a passion for education and technology, Dong founded AceRocket to empower students with innovative AI tools. His vision is to transform exam preparation into a more efficient, personalized, and accessible process. Dong brings a unique perspective, blending academic expertise and technological innovation to develop cutting-edge educational solutions.

Darren Finnegan

Advisor, Education and Outreach

Darren is a math educator, tutor, and entrepreneur with both a bachelor's and a master's degree in mathematics. He has spent over a decade helping learners overcome math anxiety and build real, lasting confidence. As the founder of TutorMyMath.com, he primarily works with adults preparing for College Algebra but enjoys supporting students of all ages and skill levels. Darren believes math can be intuitive, creative, and empowering, especially when taught with empathy and real-world relevance. He has partnered with AceRocket to explore how AI can build better study routines and boost confidence for young learners in math.

Charles Silber, Ed.D.

Advisor, AP Statistics

Charles Silber, Ed.D. is a seasoned Mathematics and Statistics professor with a rich background in both primary public education and higher academia. His expertise encompasses Statistics, Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Statistics for Corpus Linguistics. As a published researcher, he has leveraged his skills in E-Learning, Educational Leadership, and Lecturing. He holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree with a specialization in Mathematics and Applied Statistics in Educational Measurement from Rutgers University–New Brunswick. His role as a Reader/Rater for the AP Statistics exam, combined with his experience as a contract statistician for Ph.D. candidates in the Social Sciences, equips him with a profound grasp of the pedagogical approaches that yield successful outcomes.

Farideh Dormishian M.S

Advisor, AP Calculus, SAT & ACT

Farideh is a high school math teacher at Hayward Twin Oaks Montessori High School and a proud Montessorian dedicated to nurturing confident, self-directed learners. She holds a B.S. in Applied Mathematics, an M.S. in Computer Science, and MIT certifications in Data Science and Machine Learning. With a California Teaching Credential in Secondary Math, she has taught Algebra 1 through AP Calculus BC and specializes in SAT, ACT, and AP preparation. As an EnCorps STEM Teaching Fellow, she is developing a hands-on Robotics program that integrates coding, engineering, and environmental awareness. A member of NCTM, Farideh believes math is a creative, empowering tool that builds confident problem-solvers. As an AceRocket advisor, she supports the development of AI-powered learning tools.
